Common Issues & FAQ

General

Q: Is Mentora free? A: Mentora offers a free trial. After that, you'll need a subscription. See Billing & Subscription for details.

Q: How many people can I invite? A: You can invite as many people as your subscription allows. Each person uses one seat. See Billing to upgrade your seat count.

Q: Can I use Mentora on my phone? A: Mentora works best on desktop/laptop. Mobile web access is available but limited. A native mobile app may come in the future.

Q: Is my data secure? A: Yes. All data is encrypted in transit. See Security & Compliance for more details.


Goals & Progress

Q: Why is my goal progress 0%? A: Goal progress is calculated from completed tasks. If you haven't marked any tasks as Done, progress stays at 0%. Mark tasks as Complete to see progress increase.

Q: Can I restore a deleted goal? A: Unfortunately, no. Deleted goals cannot be recovered. Consider archiving by changing status to "Achieved" or keeping it as "Not Started" instead of deleting.

Q: What happens if a goal is overdue? A: Nothing automatically. If a target date has passed, you can:

  1. Change the date to extend the deadline
  2. Mark it as Achieved if it's done
  3. Change status to "At Risk" to flag it needs attention

Q: Can I move a milestone to a different goal? A: Not directly. You'd need to delete it and recreate it on the target goal. Contact support if you need help with bulk moves.


Team & Access

Q: What happens if I leave the company? A: Your admin can deactivate your account. Your goals and data will remain in the audit log for compliance. See Team Management.

Q: Can I see my coworkers' goals? A: Only if you're their manager (or higher). Employees can only see their own goals. Managers can see their direct reports' goals. Admins can see everything.

Q: What if my manager leaves? A: Your admin can reassign you to a new manager. See Change an Employee's Manager.

Q: Can I have multiple managers? A: Not officially in Mentora. You report to one manager. If you need dual reporting, ask your admin to set up the primary manager and note the secondary in comments.


Notifications

Q: How do I turn off email notifications? A: Go to Settings → Notifications and toggle Email Notifications off. You'll still see in-app notifications.

Q: Why am I getting so many emails? A: You get notifications for:

Reduce emails by muting items (click the ... menu on a goal and select "Mute") or turning off email notifications entirely.


Billing & Subscriptions

Q: What happens when my trial ends? A: Your account stays active, but you may have limited access until you add a payment method. See Billing.

Q: Can I change my billing cycle from monthly to annual? A: Contact support. They can adjust your cycle and may be able to apply a credit.

Q: Do you offer discounts for nonprofits or educational organizations? A: Contact support to ask about special pricing.


Data & Export

Q: Can I export my goals? A: Yes! See Export Team Progress for CSV and JSON export options.

Q: Can I import existing goals? A: Yes, using CSV import. See Import Goals in Bulk.

Q: How long are audit logs kept? A: By default, 1 year. Your admin can change this in Security & Compliance.


Troubleshooting

Q: Why is Mentora loading slowly? A: Try:

  1. Refresh the page (F5)
  2. Clear your browser cache
  3. Disable browser extensions
  4. Try a different browser
  5. Check your internet connection

Q: The page has an error. What do I do? A: Take a screenshot of the error and contact support. Include:


Integrations

Q: Does Mentora integrate with Slack? A: Not yet, but it's on the roadmap.

Q: Can I connect Mentora to my HR system? A: Currently, no direct integrations. You can export data and manually import it into other systems. Contact support to discuss your needs.

Q: Does Mentora have an API? A: Not currently available for public use. Contact support if you're interested in API access for enterprise use cases.
